Dear Jamaica, I have seen some clashes and drawn out sagas in my days, but you know how we Jamaicans ‘tek everting mek joke”  on that note, can you imagine these now-a-days dramas as cartoons? I love cartoons and sometimes I try to image our world as such. Bear with me those of you under 22 years, you gonna have to do some research. However, can you imagine Bounty and Beenie as Tom and Jerry? Wondering which would be which? Well for me Bounty would be Tom and Beenie is Jerry. Reason is Beenie seems to be a little trouble maker and pretends to be all blameless, while Bounty seems to act on impulse. Sometimes I envision them as Lion-O and Mumrah from the “Thunder Cats,” or the famous Bugs bunny and Elmer, but I will let you decide on those.

Ah Bowy, every time I think about the “King of the Dance Hall” and the “War Lord,” Wooeee! I have to laugh; the feud between these two has been going on longer then “Jace and the Wheel-warriors” search for his father, with no end in sight. Their feud is even more frustrating then those Kids who got lost in “Dungeons and Dragons” and their never-ending exploration along with their ever-disappearing guide “Dungeon Master” to find a way out of a lost world; every time it seems like they are about to break free something weird happens to deter their escape. Does this remind you of the Beenie/Bounty disagreement? However, I think the fight that can even come close to the Killa/Beenie dispute is the one between Peter Griffin from “Family Guy” and the Chicken best describe this Bounty/Beenie conflict. I am a huge Family Guy fan, I don’t know if you watched that episode in which Peter fought with the chicken for seems like hours, through rain and snow, until both of them suddenly realized that they couldn’t remember what they were fighting for originally. I look back on this feud and began to wonder if they (Killa/Beenie) remembered what the original fight was about. It has become so silly a he said, or didn’t say saga. Wow! Don’t these two big men think it’s time to put these petty things behind? Even if one said something are you telling me Jamaica, that none of them is bold enough to be the “bigger” man and just ignore what the other have said? Jamaica, they need to STOP the bickering. I love the passa passa like any Kingstonian but for over 20 odd years and still going??!!! No man, not even the fight between the Transformers, with Optimus Prime vs. Megatron, lasted that long. Full time now they end this unhealthy dependency on each other; I for one think they have made enough money this means and needs to find some other way to be creative lyrically. You know what’s even more amazing is the fact that numerous other rivals have tried to compete with them and fail by the way side: Kartel vs. Assassin, Shabba vs. Ninja and He-man vs. Skeletor.

Dance Hall is the one of the few things that still allows Jamaica to make a living and own some foreign exchange, the time has come for the artists to shift their focus to how we can get our music into main stream and start making mega bucks. They should form an industry with a corporate office and such. Whenever overseas clients want our artist they have to call that office and it’s then filtered to the various managing companies etc. The office would also be authorized to collect royalties on behave or them. Use these profits to build more recording studios and to promote the music. We are such talented people why can’t we put heads together for the greater good of Jamaica land we love? Oh I forgot to tell you that after Peter and the chicken stopped fighting and became friends; they both went out for dinner and the fight was refueled when they tried to decide who was to pay the bill ( I wonder what this means?). Cartoon characters or not, we need to check our reality. Go watch some cartoon and laugh a little. Jamaica just live good. Mi gwaan.
